Rhode Island has approved three winter bill credits for eligible residential customers of Rhode Island Energy. Each credit is $20.45, scheduled for January, February and March 2027, adding up to $61.35 per account. The plan is expected to reach more than 450,000 customers statewide.
A separate hold-harmless settlement is expected to add about $14 monthly beginning in October. Together, the programs could mean roughly $34 in combined credits per month during the three winter months. The state says the relief follows an energy-affordability emergency declared in July as winter supply rates were projected to rise.
