NorthEast News is following the University System of New Hampshire’s new tuition-waiver program, set to begin in fall 2027. It could cover standard tuition for eligible in-state students from families earning up to $100,000 at participating public campuses.

The practical details matter: students generally need full-time enrollment, a first undergraduate degree, a qualifying academic record and a completed FAFSA. Certain community-college transfers who have earned an associate degree may also qualify. Eligible students are considered through their financial-aid offer without a separate program application.

“Tuition-free” does not mean cost-free. Fees, books, housing and meals may still need other aid or family resources, and the benefit does not cover January or summer courses. Prospective students can use the lead time to track admissions and FAFSA steps.
